A lovely place to pass the hours...
Welcome to Lavender Nest Cottage!
This sweet abode was originally planned to be a rustic potting shed; in my heart, however, it was always meant to be the cottage I’ve dreamed of since early childhood. This tiny (10’ X 12’) haven was built from doors and windows salvaged from old homes. It is heated, air conditioned, and has a loft with a little window where I can find my inspiration while looking outside to enjoy the view, which includes our chickens, ducks, and my lovely English cottage gardens, which I tend.
As you wind down the brick path to the back porch, your legs are brushed by french lavender that grows in abundance and releases its amazing scent. Once you enter, you will know you are in a special place; everything smells of lavender! Inside you will find a wooden floor with an area rug, a love seat, my art table, an easel, and my old spinning wheel- plus lots of fleece from the llamas and sheep we used to have. My favorite piece of furniture inside is a narrow farm cabinet with french doors; inside are lots of bird nests which have fallen from our old trees over the years.
The outside is just as magical as the inside; there are teapots affixed sideways to fence posts for birds to nest inside. There are tea cups and saucers (perched on copper poles) to hold birdseed. There is a raised brick herb garden that looks like a well, and flowers boast their blooms everywhere!
Suffice it to say that my soul lives in Lavender Nest Cottage. Rap on the front or back door; I’ll supply the tea!
