About Dana Andrews
Welcome to my story, my page, and my heart. I am a survivor. I am also the wife of one amazing husband, and mother of five wonderful children. I survived a childhood that no one should ever endure, yet far too many do. Fortunately I found incredible therapists who enabled me to survive 3 suicide attempts and heal. Together, they, my husband and I were successful in BREAKING my CYCLE of ABUSE. Too many cannot obtain therapy; I advocate especially for them and those who might suffer the abuse they will unfortunately perpetuate. What a high cost to pay...
It all began with a pact I made with God. If He truly existed, He would give me as many children as He could, so I could undo my own childhood as many times as possible. Yes... He exists, and He blessed my husband and myself with five beautiful children. Now it's my turn to fulfill my end of the pact.
I will not EVER forget my struggles, for they represent the cries of those not as fortunate as I've been. I will not EVER stop reaching out to ensure those affected by abuse will know that THEY ARE NEVER ALONE! Abusers need control, and they isolate and silence their victims. This must end. I survived to share my story of hope, and I believe EVERYONE deserves to find their freedom and healing.
In addition to writing, I have worked as a nurse, a trompe l’oeil muralist/oil painter, and a singer-songwriter. I love to make things: I’m an avid bread baker who grinds her own wheat, and a knitter who spins her own wool. Though our kids are grown, our household includes two dogs, 3 rescue kittens, and our sweet chickens and ducks ~who were the heroes of my first children's book! I'll save that story for another day...
